I always find it interesting how "in the truth" they have meetings that are ABOUT meetings.

I know it's a journalist who wrote the title of the article, but any self-respecting scientist would refrain from using the word "proof" as it is used here.
There is evidence. . . it is probable. . . yes.
Proof. . . No.
As one of my professors said, "Other than using the word 'proof' in math or logic, remove the word 'proof' from your vocabulary."

By saying things like magic are bad, do the WTS imply that it exists?
by DuvanMuvan ini was wondering why they're so uptight about magical things (cough cough sparlock cough) and was just remembering some quotes in the publications about demons and stuff i saw on another thread and i seriously think that they believe this stuff is real.. once i asked my mum why previously she said not to watch magicians because they're bad blah blah when it wasn't real, hence the term magic trick.
she admitted that while most of them are probably innocent, she still thinks some of them (anyone heard of dynamo?
) have some demonic power behind them.. i seriously wanna hear some other views on this .

Start questioning the existence of "real" magic, and you're on your way to challenging other 'supernatural' forces such as god or a devil.
Plus all of the scary magic talk scares everyone into the arms of Jehovah/the cult.

P R O U D of H E R: Daughter's column in the New York Times
by humbled inshe called last night to say it's online now, front page.
it'll be in the print version sunday.. not everyone's cup of tea, at first consideration: she is slightly embarrassed to be featured in the modern love column in the style section.. the times people asked to make a short video of her article "fight or flight".
they went to her bronx apartment to talk to her.

Will firing the DOs be the first step to a new Watchtower?
by Juan Viejo2 inagainst my better judgement, i've decided to share the following as a response to guy pierce passing and the announcement of the elimination of district overseers later this year.. late in january (2014) i got an email from one of my contacts (a fader) who served at bethel for several years, but is no longer at wt hq.
he still has a lot of close contacts within the service department and in other departments at patterson and knows people in all of the ny offices.
i kept this email set aside on a flash drive and haven't shared it with anyone - figuring i'd publish an article about it later this year when i had more time to do it right.

Also, if they're demoting all DO's to CO's AND they unveil their plan to unvoluntarily "retire" COs at 70, how many DOs you think are near or over 70? I wouldn't be surprised if most were in their mid to late sixties, if not early 70s.
I think they just want to get rid of them entirely.

How Were You Affected by All The Rules & Regulations From The Watchtower Society?
by minimus inthere are so many directives for elders, pioneers, ministerial servants and "publishers", it is mind boggling!!!.
to fulfill all of their expectaions, you would have to be perfect!.
i must say, that i really don't know how some do it, every day, ever week....i wonder how long some of the elders that frequent this board will still push the flock like the watchtower says they must..

Just thinking about this. . . .
Yes, they heap on rules, regulations, duties, "privileges". . . . You feel like you've been run ragged. .. .
Then they have you implement this thought-stopping technique: "Are you stressed out? That's Satan's system; Feel like you're busy with no time for yourself? Don't blame it on the Trooth! ---- It must be your job. . . " and so on.
That is a great picture BLONDIE

Black sheep of the family-my life as an ExJW
by bsand20 ini was a 3rd generation jw, half the congregation i attended was made up of my entire mom's side of the family, 2 of the 3 elders were my grandpa and uncle.
my first memory of the organization was when they announced my mom's name in the meeting saying she had been reinstated....it was 1988 and i was 6 years old....i didn't understand it then, but when i asked my mom why was she crying and why did they say her name in the meeting, she said "it's because i've been good!".
so she went back and after a period of time assisting constantly, she was reinstated.
